Standing with France

Today we are all French, all Parisian, all standing arm in arm against the violence that will try to shred the fabric of our humanity. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the French people.

Or as Paul Verlaine said...

Il pleure dans mon coeur
Comme il pleut sur la ville.
Quelle est cette langueur
Qui pénêtre mon coeur ?

Which means (roughly): My heart cries as it rains on the city...

  1. I was up most of the night thinking about it. What a world we are living in.

  2. The worst, for me, was reading the headlines about jubilant jihadists. You are so right, Hallie--what a world we are living in. How do we--as our hearts break with the French--combat such hatred?

  3. Amen to all that has been said. These people who think themselves heroes are the ultimate cowards. My heart goes out to the people of Paris, especially the loved ones of those murdered or injured.

  4. I was there just a week ago. It is my favorite city in the entire world. I feel about Paris like Deb does about London. My heart is hurting today. And now I see Belgium is ramping up. I have a "daughter" there with her family. Her husband is a journalist for Politico EU. Prayers requested to keep them safe.

  5. Impossible to wrap one's mind around how insignificant life is to these perpetrators of terror. As you say, FChurch, how do we combat such hatred, such evil? My heart and prayers go out to those families coping with such devastating loss today and in the days to come.

Ann, you definitely have my prayers for your daughter and her family.

  6. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people of France. I have relatives whom I've never met in the Paris area, and I wonder how they are. I pray for all the French people.
