I'll have to do some research (but not with ferrets . . .) The wonders of the language, however, never fail to amaze me. Can anyone translate "rag and bone men arrested for fly tipping?" That was from a headline in the Newcastle Chronicle, and I have to admit I had to look it up. Obviously they were in the midst of a crime wave in Newcastle :-)Deborah Crombiehttp://www.deborahcrombie.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1001156153899984046.post-75690234381485446452011-01-27T12:55:00.984-05:002011-01-27T12:55:00.984-05:00Hannah, you and I should write a non-fiction direc...Hannah, you and I should write a non-fiction directory of English silly sports and country practices....Rhys Bowenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06663634889908752121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1001156153899984046.post-67188197740000738972011-01-27T11:37:52.443-05:002011-01-27T11:37:52.443-05:00Actually, I've just polished off two slices of...Actually, I've just polished off two slices of toast and marmalade. My youngest daughter was born there and we plan to show her where she was born some day. One of the things I liked most was not being thought an oddity for preferring tea to coffee!Laura DiSilverionoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1001156153899984046.post-17168254540554352692011-01-27T07:49:19.656-05:002011-01-27T07:49:19.656-05:00very funny Rhys, and congratulations Hannah! That was an amazing production. we brought my elderly father and stepmother--we all had to go shopping for skirts and hats. Unfortunately, they lost in the first race so we went on to other sights. Like Stonehenge--truly another amazing English oddity!Lucy Burdette aka Roberta Isleibhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04660402177299546055noreply@blogger.com
