Your Sunday Moment of Zen — Dinosaurs

SUSAN ELIA MACNEAL: Some of you (Hank, probably!) may remember when I posted pictures of a spontaneous art installation on our street — a children's castle had, taken over by toy knights, had been left by a tree.

I'm delighted to report that not only is the castle still there after all this time, but others have gotten into the creative spirit.

Another neighbor on the same street, who's always had a rock garden with succulents, recently added dinosaurs. Yes, dinosaurs.

Do you think when no one's looking, the knights and the dinos get together (they're only a few doors down from each other) and have swingin' dance parties at the castle?

(Yes, I've seen the Toy Story trilogy too many times to count...)

Happy Sunday!

Your Saturday Moment of Zen

SUSAN ELIA MACNEAL: Happy Saturday! (Or as my Louisiana born-and-raised London-living friend says, "Cheers, y'all!")

Life is mostly difficult. Embrace the fleeting beautiful moments. And if there are no beautiful moments today, create a beautiful moment. And if you can't do that, enjoy other people's beautiful moments. And if even that doesn't work, curl up with a nice cup of hot tea and a good book — and think that tomorrow there might actually be some beauty if you look hard enough.

Cheers, y'all.

Your (Saturday) Moment of Zen

SUSAN ELIA MACNEAL: I know I usually post photographs on Sundays, but Kaye's up tomorrow, and I really wanted to share these pictures I took.

The tree is one near us that I see on my walk to Kiddo's school or my gym. The castle, complete with knights and archers, simply appeared one day last month. I'm pleased to report that even in Park Slope, Brooklyn, all of the soldiers have stayed, and continue to stay, in the castle...

Here's to whimsy and fun and the unexpected!

Happy Saturday, Reds and lovely readers!

Your Sunday Moment of Zen....

SUSAN ELIA MACNEAL: This Sunday's "Moment of Zen" is a photograph of our neighborhood in Brooklyn, taken by friend Andrea Vaszko of Bellandin Photography.
