Your Sunday Moment of Peace

Bellandin Photography

SUSAN ELIA MACNEAL: Is this a lake in England? Michigan? Up in Maine?

No, it's right here in Prospect Park, Brooklyn — an Olmsted-designed urban retreat.

May you find peace this Sunday, and throughout the coming week.

Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.

  4. Know it well! My husband grew up in Flatbush and used to go fishing in that pond with his older brother. And we just got our daughter's family a membership in the Botanic Garden.

  5. Peace, indeed. Thank you for the gift.

When I used to meditate, my go-to image to quiet my mind was nearly identical to this, combined with the sound of rushing water. Ahhhhh.
