Jenn's Word to the Wise: GET THIS BOOK!

Publisher's Weekly calls it "riveting"! Launching today!! A new Library Lovers Mystery from our very own Jenn McKinlay!

It's no-holds-barred murder, in the latest page-turning Library Lover's Mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of Hitting the Books.

Lindsey Norris is finally getting married to the man of her dreams--but it's not all roses for Briar Creek's beloved library director, as gardening enthusiast and town newcomer Aaron Grady gives the term "book lover" a whole new meaning. Inappropriate looks and unwelcome late-night visits to Lindsey's house have everyone from the crafternooners to Lindsey's fiancé, Sully, on edge.

When Grady's dead body is found staged outside the library and all the clues point to Sully, Lindsey knows it's up to her to dig through the hidden chapters of Grady's previous life to find the real culprit and clear Sully's name. But becoming a thorn in the killer's side is not without its consequences, and the closer Lindsey gets to the truth, the more determined the murderer is to make her just a footnote.

  5. I have placed my order. I also requested the Hillsborough Library System order this one, Jenn. I hope their order will boost your sales. Not sure if your publisher includes library orders..they should.

    1. Coralee, I can answer that for Jenn and for the rest of us - our publishers absolutely count library sales. Not only that, but libraries are one of the best ways of making new readers - people will read one book at the library and rush out to get the back list or the next book coming out.

    2. As a recovering librarian, I am thrilled when my books are in libraries. And the library market is huge, so I am ever grateful when patrons request my books. Thank you!

  6. Shalom Reds and fans. What a great theme for a series. My earliest memories include the library and then when I got a bit older, I remember going to the library by myself. The local library was a little more than a block away, the same street that we lived on. My mother was a serious reader and I think the adult librarian had a crush on her. There was another branch of the Queens Borough Public Library on the main street of Far Rockaway where I went to high school. They actually had a YA librarian and she shepherded a book club for us. I remember reading LORD OF THE FLIES with that group. I’ve been thinking for a while that I might want to join a book club or start one of my own. I started reading BOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING but life got very busy but I will get back to it. Mazal tov on the pub date.

    1. David, it sounds like you have wonderful library memories. And considering the amount you read, you should absolutely start a book club!

    2. Thank you, David! The library is a cornerstone of my life so I absolutely understand your affection for them and have so many memories of my own in them. It really is a perfect setting for a series, IMHO. :)

    3. Everywhere I've lived, I've always gotten a card at the local library--and I'm definitely in the category of finding new authors at the library, then tracking down all their other titles. And in this day and age, the love the library X 100! Imagine walking into our hometown library and having access to books from a gazillion other libraries, just for the asking! Book lovers' paradise!

  7. So, I had a post planned for today that was about what libraries mean to me, hence the library lovers series, and it was going to lead with the information that in the United States we have more libraries than McDonalds, a fact I always find heartening. But deadline brain struck - I turned in Pumpkin Spice Peril at 2:30 AM last night and promptly flatlined. This will be the LAST time I write a book without an outline, but that's a whole other post. I forgot it was Tuesday, I forgot my book was coming out, and I forgot to put my post into blogger and press "publish". I have no excuse. It was horribly unprofessional of me. Bless my fellow Reds for waking up and seeing that I'd spaced my day and promptly putting up a post celebrating my release. Thank you, ladies, you truly are the best of the best. XO

  12. Jenn, how exactly do you forget that your own book is coming out?

    Well, Happy Book Birthday nonetheless.

I'm behind on the series but I do have most of them in my vast accumulation of TBR piles.

As for the library mentions in the various replies, since I joined my library's mystery book club, I've actually been taking advantage of them having books I want to read and saving the money on buying them. (My bank account is sighing in relief).

I just got a call today that a book I've been waiting for came in today so I get to stop by and grab that one after work while I return one that I read over the weekend, since my holiday weekend is a far cry from being considered "Whiskey Bent and Hellbound".

  13. I was wondering about today's post. I can understand forgetting days, I have spent so much time scheduling appointments that I often need to ask the date when I, myself, write an actual check. Libraries, weddings and a mysterious death - who could ask for more? Me, now I need to order a new book. I'm glad that today's blog is the outcome of a submission deadline and not because of an emergency due to weather, health or other catastrophe.

  14. Happy Book Birthday, Jenn! I included Word to the Wise in my list of books coming out in September on my Reading Room Blog. I am so interested in this series, and I have #1, Books Can Be Deceiving, and #2, Due or Die, in my short stack of TBRs (as opposed to my large round table of TBRs).
