Happy Fourth of July

Dear reds and red readers,

On this day, we're wishing for us a country not divided, a country that welcomes strangers, a country that rejoices in diversity...that encourages all to succeed. In short, what our Founding Fathers had in mind when they met that day in July many years ago.

  1. A perfect wish, not just for the 4th of July, but for every day.

  2. And may that come to pass, today and every day, as Joan says.

  3. Happy Fourth of July, everyone! Remember, this nation was built on the idea that ordinary citizens could rule themselves, and guide our nation to greatness. I still believe in that, and in all of you. Now go out and listen to some wonderful music!

  4. Agreeing with everyone. If you can locate it,nthere was a fabulous supplement the Sunday NYT. "Child of the Enlightenment," written by Garry Wells plus an annotated copy of the Constitution. I suggest this as a must read for us all. It is the story of what went on during the Constitutional Convention of 1787. In secret mostly. I've searched on line, but can't find it. Maybe you have Sunday's copy lying around. Or maybe you are more search savvy than I.

Our annual trip to byt Big Lake is cancelled do to flooding. So we will drive up to the top of Cobb's Hill today to watch the downtown fireworks display. I am fine after yesterday's surgery, no pain, up and around now that the anesthesia has worn off, getting ready to walk the dogs in a few. Yay me.

    1. Indeed YaY you. I held you in my heart yesterday. Glad all is well. I didn't see the supplement you mentioned with my online subscription, perhaps that was for paper subscribers?

  10. Having been gone from Jungle Reds most of the past two weeks due to a reunion and then a death in the family, I am comforted much to be back here today and read this message of hope and optimism. I was just witness to a community coming together in peace and love, and I do believe it is possible for our country to be good again, a country that welcomes the downtrodden and lifts them up to the light of our goodwill.
