Time for the Jungle Reds Social Media Round Up

Okay, so every time I turn around there's a new social media thing-a-ma-jig. Honestly, I'm not sure how we're supposed to maintain all these things all the time and actually get books written, but I digress.

The Reds are all pretty active on various platforms, so I thought I'd update everyone on where you can find us by listing our social media handles and websites.

Life moves pretty fast, you have to double back every now and then to keep up! Speaking of which, the Jungle Reds will be chatting live with the Poisoned Pen on Saturday, Feb 13th at 2pm MST. Don't miss it!

Readers, hit us in the comments to tell us what social media you're following and also if you have a handle, post it so we can follow back!

  1. Wow . . . that’s a lot of places to follow Jungle Red ladies . . . thanks for the list, Jenn . . . .

Trying to keep up with social media would use up every minute of the day if we let it!

I do try to keep up with Facebook [when our Internet is actually working], but it gets overwhelming sometimes . . . .

    [I’ve marked 13 February on my calendar] . . . .

  2. REDS: Thanks for the updated social media links.
I do follow/like you on Facebook (my name), Bookbub (gracekoshida) and your websites. I have an Instagram account but hardly use it and I DON'T TWEET!

Looking forward to seeing you and fellow readers online at PP on Feb 13.

  3. Thank you for the updated list, Jenn. I only use Facebook for social media. It's more than enough and already a time suck. (Talk about your rabbit holes!) I have liked all of you on Facebook and will double check that I am following all of you on BookBub. I am definitely following all of you on Amazon where my reviewer name is Dayhiker.

  4. I have a question about Facebook and friends. Should I be asking to be your Facebook friend? How do you use the "friend" request on your author page? Some of us already are Facebook friends but I've been trying not to be pushy.

    1. thanks for following us Judy...You are welcome to friend us. Everyone uses it a little bit differently. My Roberta friend page is a little more personal than LB's author page, but I try not to repeat too much

    2. Some of us have author pages as well as personal. I only use my own page to interact with family. So you need to LIKE or hollow my professional page for my newd

    3. I'm terrible about friending people on my personal page because I never check and miss a lot of requests. I don't post much there either. Prof page is tough because there are so many comments, it's hard to find everyone.

  5. I'm pretty sure I follow all those! Here are mine (Alter-ego Maddie is more active on some). I now wish I had combined my identities on social media like I did on me web site. Too late now.

  7. I have a twitter account only so I can keep up with a couple of far-flung friends and their work, mostly it's facebook for me. Like Judy, I feel awkward about asking to friend authors on social media. This blog lets me know what's going on in your writing lives!

  8. I am only using Facebook at this time, and I think I am friends with all of you, some twice, both personal and professional. At one time or another I've been on Twitter, Instagram, and does anyone remember My Space! Or the old days of AOL chat rooms? (No, not THAT kind.)

Everyone got the guacamole made for the game this evening?

  9. I enjoy social media for both the doors it opens for me to new people to bring into my circle and also for the fascinating rabbit holes down which it pulls me. So much fun when there's time for that kind of burrowing!

I'm on Facebook with my name and I have a twitter account under @AJLER. I'm more active on FB than Twitter, though I love following the Reds on both platforms. A while back, I started (opened?) an Instagram account, but can barely find my way there never mind figure out how to use it effectively (insert facepalm emoji here). My blog is fiveyearsawriter.blogspot.com

Enjoy your Sunday, folks, and think of us here on the Canadian prairies where it's a ridiculous -30C/-22F today... Thank you, Arctic vortex of frigid deep-freeze cold.

    2. AMANDA: Stay warm inside! Some of that frigid arctic air is headed east to Ontario by Wednesday. We just want it to remain cold enough in Ottawa for the Rideau Canal Skateway to stay open. We are at -11C/14F at 8:00 am warming up to -3C/27F with some snow today and more forecasted later on this week.

      Delete
    3. GRACE: Consider the cold sent your way! The Skateway is so fabulous (even though our Riverway is longer, ha ha -- or so they say). Enjoy that nice winter day in Ottawa.

      Delete
    4. I hope that when it reaches Quebec, the cold will have diminished a little

      Delete
    5. AMANDA: Yes, Winnipeg's Riverway is longer, so we have had to revise our Guinness Book of World Records slogan. It now reads: THE WORLD's LARGEST NATURAL SKATING RINK!

BTW, I did take a short skate (not the entire length) on the Riverway during one visit in winter. It was nice but boy was it cold that day!

    6. I can't even wrap my head around that -22F temperature. Mercy!

    I'm on Twitter as @TheOneTrueJay.

  15. The Valentine's party will be just the ticket. It's supposed to be SUPER cold here next Sunday.

I'm mostly on Facebook, under Karen Maslowski. I have an Instagram account, but hardly do anything with it except scroll past a billion ads. But there I am maslowskikaren Original, no?

I never could get into Twitter, for some reason.

I think I'm already following all of the Reds on both Facebook and Instagram, plus a bunch of the regulars here (Grace, Judy, Dru, Ann, and others).

  16. Shalom Reds and Readers,

It’s snowing again here in Doylestown, PA. Big fat snow flakes. Apparently, it had just started when I awoke, about 8 am. And now, we have got quite an accumulation. I went grocery shopping yesterday; so I don’t need to go out today at all. We’ll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

I do have social media accounts. However, there is no way to keep on top of them. I can barely keep abreast of my email inbox. On Facebook, I mostly follow personal friends. I do like and post to groups or companies that I have a peSirsonal stake in. But not so much as just personal friends, old and new, near and far. I have an Instagram account which I try to keep separate from my Facebook account, but that is not always possible. On Instagram, I don’t generally follow people with private accounts, accounts which require an approval. Of course, if I know someone personally, I will reach out with a follow request.

Twitter, I use, to follow people or causes that are of interest to me. Politics, religion, botany and horticulture, etc. Since, starting a part time job (20 hours a week), I mostly dote on my email inbox. It has become a losing battle and sometimes I miss important personal stuff. I give out my personal email and phone number pretty easily and unfortunately, some people or organizations over step their bounds. Mostly, texting from people who should know better but now I block most of my phone apps from texting me by restricting the notifications that I allow. That includes organizations like the Red Cross who text me trying to get me to make an appointment fora blood donation, when I already have an appointment. Or even trying to confirm that appointment in three places… email, text message and robophone call.

A brave new world. Oh, well. If you can't find me as David Squires, (Doylestown, PA), I sometimes use my email name ruach36.

  17. I’m not on social medias. I come here every day and learn a lot about everyone.
When I want to know more about an author or when I want to know in what order I’ll buy books in a series, I look at the web site.

  18. Happy Sunday!

I follow everyone on Instagram. I have learned to be very careful on social media. It is easier for me to get messages on Instagram than on Facebook for the time being.

    1. Thanks for the reminder, Hank! I use BookBub and I love it. I have mixed feelings about Goodreads because it seems to focus too much on Amazon the publisher and I do not use Amazon. If there is a book by an Amazon or publisher connected to Amaxon, I try to buy the book at the mystery conference in person.
