Which Chris?

JULIA SPENCER-FLEMING: This blog is late, my internet is wonky, it's 84 degrees and 84% humidity out (at 9am!) and it's the end of August. We don't want deep thoughts, do we? No. What do we want? Man flesh To admire handsome actors.

You've all heard of the Four Chrises, right?

Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine and Chris Pratt:

We're going to determine today who is the Official Chris of Jungle Red Writers. Scan these pics (all modest head shots, so no one is too swayed by the sight of sweaty abs) and vote in the comments!

1) Chris Pratt

 2) Chris Pine

3) Chris Hemsworth

4) Chris Evans

4a) Chris Evans with a beard

Special Bonus Chris Round!!!

 A) Chris Noth

 B) Chrissy Teagan

 C) Chris O'Dowd

D) Chrissy Hynde

Can you believe Chrissy Hynde is almost 67? Rock and roll, girl, rock and roll. Okay, dear readers, ready, set -- vote!

  1. What fun!
    Chris Pine gets my vote . . . .

  2. Oh good grief...

As much as I'm a fan of Cap, I have to go with Chris Pine.

    1. Although, if the vote was based on abs, I'd have to switch my vote to Chris Evans. LOL

  3. Um, I'm not really drawn to any of the Chrises. Huh. Or Christopher Plummer, Or Christopher Robin, So I guess I am going with Chrissy Hynde. For purposes of this discussion.
In other news, I can never tell the Chrises apart. One of them was in Wonder Woman, right? Pine?

    1. Yes, Chris Pine. He was the love interest. Those eyes, that smile. Sigh.

Also in The Princess Diaries 2, he plays Kirk in the new Star Trek movies and I think he was the dad in A Wrinkle in Time. My girl and I watched The Princess Diaries recently and he's so young-looking.

    3. NO idea. Seriously. Put them in a room and I would be completely baffled.

    4. Yes Christopher Plummer, even when older

  4. But! I truly think this is a valuable discussion. :-) We need more like this. Timely, artistic, and cinematic. Thank you, dear Julia. Let's do the William/Bills! William Powell, William Holden, Bill Murray, Will Farrell, Billy Bob Thornton. Yeeesh! xoxo

  5. Nothing but the highest caliber of arts discussion here at JRW.

  6. Of these, Chrissy Hynde gets my vote, but if I had my druthers I'd nominate Chris Holm!

  7. Oh Julia, how did you know this is exactly what I need today? So, for the regular round of play, I am a Chris Evans person. However, for the bonus round...Chris O'Dowd all the way for the win! I will take humor over abs any day of the week.

  8. I'm with Hank--they all look alike to me. Interchangeable hotties? Fine. Chrissy Hynde looks amazing.

My pick is my daughter Christy. A fantastic mom with a terrific sense of humor and fun, a woman with incredible charisma who takes no guff from anyone, and the only nurse in the Midwest with a Masters from Columbia in Diabetes Management Education. She oversees the program for same in two hospitals. And she can swim for hours without touching land. I'm in awe.

  9. Oh my gosh, Julia, such a challenging decision for first thing in the morning! Love all the Chrises but am so torn between Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth. I think Pine would win except that I adored Hemsworth as the goofy secretary in the remake of Ghostbusters. I declare it a tie.

  10. Thanks for the introduction, Julia. I'm not even familiar with these people! In the bonus round, I'd pick Chris, whose face has a lot of character.

    1. We may need to do a post that's nothing but Aiden Turner pictures. Sigh.

  12. The view from over 70 has me looking at the Chrises and seeing puppies. Guess I will nominate Kris Kringle

    1. If we stretch it to Christophers, we can add Christopher Plummer and Christopher Lee!

    2. I thought Christopher Lee was dead. I think death disqualifies someone from this type of highbrow discussion, no? :D

    3. Caralee, glad to find a kindred spirit.

  13. Another vote for Chrissy Hynde! 67! Woohoo for those rocker chicks! Second place, Chris Hemsworth--for the goofy smile--his face shows some character--takes more than abs to make me swoon.

    1. They are all very good actors as well as good-looking, but I leaned toward Hemsworth for his sense of humor.

I can tell we don't have a lot of Marvel fans out there!

  14. Chris Pratt- A great sense of humor is essential!

  15. Debs, Bibiaana Behrendt here. Chris Pine needs your vote because he is such a cutie. He has just adopt a dog out of a shelter after he heard the sad story of him and the sibling dogs. He was willing to take them all! but the others were adopted as well. Plus he has a house with a little vineyard in it. Why I know it? because when he bought the house (discreetly) from another actor, he kept on this guy's administration company. But when Chris Pine found out that this admionistrator and his company were active supporters of scientology and kno for it, he immediately got rid of them. Because this was so sponatneous and short notice, Chris Pine had no company ready to take over the official owner registration, so he used his on name till a ne company as registered. That's how the media found out... For someone who so treasures his privacy, this shows how honest he is in his beliefs.

  19. I'm unclear as to why I have to choose. I want ALL the Chrises. LOL! Fun Fact: Hub's given name is Chris so I've actually reached my quota, also, as stunning as the Fab Four are, I'd put my Chris up against all the other Chrises any day. ;) Side note: Chrissy Teigen is my spirit animal - she's got sass!

  20. I have no idea who any of these people are. Correction, I do know Mr. Big. I nominate Christine Baranski.

    3. And I would third a vote for her.

  21. I'll always have a spot in my heart for Thor, but I really love Pine. Can't I just have them all?? ;)

  22. You forgot to mention Chris P. Cream, the yummiest one of all!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Definitely Chris Hemsworth, though the others are worthy competitors!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't really think there is a choice here - Chris Pine wins hands-down. BUT, I might be willing to do some field work with the others to ensure that I haven't made a mistake. Ahhh, the sacrifices I make for the JRWs.

    ReplyDelete
  25. My vote is for Christine Baranski and Chrissy Tiegen!

    ReplyDelete
  26. If I were judging just from the photos, I'd go with bearded Chris Evans. But I have seen Chris Pine in several movies and find him pretty irresistible on screen, so I guess I pick him.

Also, I feel like mentioning Chris O'Donnell and the late great Christopher Reeve. (I mean, can anybody REALLY outshine him in his Superman days?)

PS: Great topic, and the perfect one for this day!

  27. I vote for Chris Pine since he and I attended the same university. Otherwise, it would have been a difficult choice for me!

    Great photos!

  28. The men:

Chris Pratt - Love him as Star Lord, but divorcing that cutie Anna Faris knocks him out of contention for pretty much anything.

Chris Pine - Made two really bad Star Trek movies before making a decent one. Out of the running.

Chris Hemsworth - Total badass as Thor, but the third Thor movie was terrible. Played Chris Pine's father in one of those really bad Star Trek movies. Out of contention.

Chris Noth - Seriously? A jerk on The Good Wife and appeared in Sex & The City, which is automatic disqualification.

Chris O'Dowd - Spectacularly unfunny. Out of the money.

Chris Evans (with or without a beard) - Starred in best superhero movie ever and embodies the role of Captain America as perfectly as could be hoped for. Seems like a genuinely nice guy and thus he wins if I were so inclined.

As for the women, Chrissy Teigen...No, just doesn't do it for me.

Chrissy Hynde - She's a fun musician and that pic above has her in a Motorhead T-shirt so she gets extra cool points. But she's a vegetarian and that is just not going to work for me.

For me, if I'm choosing a Chris type name actress, it has to be Christina Hendricks. I know most people will remember her from Mad Men but to me she will always be Saffron (or YoSaffBridge for people who get the reference) from Firefly. I'd include a pic but I can't seem to find one that doesn't emphasize her ample endowment.

  31. The mystery blog winner has to be Chris Evans. Looks like a gunshot wound in his right temple.

  32. Hard to choose, especially with the female Chris names being thrown in now. I really like Chris Pratt, but I do wish he and Anna Faris could have made it work. Chris Hemsworth appeals to me, too. I'll always have a special spot for Chris Noth, as Mr. Big. Then, Christine Baranski is a favorite for me in everything she does. I don't know if anyone here remembers her in the show Cybill (1995-1998 starring Cybill Shepherd) where she played Cybill's best friend. Christine played that funny, witty role to perfection, and she was the reason I watched it.

    1. Yes! Baranski was comic genius in that show.

And she's hilarious in Mama Mia, too.

  33. Chris Pine with Chris Hemsworth nipping at his heels!
But it's a good thing for all of them Kurt Russell and Jeff Bridges aren't named Chris because they are both STILL quite alluring.

  35. I like all the Chris's but whoever had them all wear beards and similar hair styles in the last Avengers movie, should have stood in bed! Having a bazillion superheroes running around and then having so many blond good looking guys was confusing. And I've been reading Marvel Comics since the 60's.

  36. I'm a Chris Evans girl, with or without the beard--although I do love a good beard. Pine and Hemsworth would be my runners up. Pine is just fine with any look, and can wear a suit as beautifully as any man in Hollywood, now or in the past; Hemsworth made up for his wooden performances in Thor I and II with his comic turns in Ghostbusters and Thor III. I'd sit in the dark and eat popcorn to watch any of them. Also, Christine Baranski is a delight in every role I've ever seen.

  39. Well, top fave is Chrissy Hynde--beautiful and joyful in that photo above. Next, to choose the beefcake, Chris Hemsworth. I don't know who any of those boys are, but at least Chris H has those laugh lines around the eyes.

  40. I'm told that Chris Pratt and I are politically incompatible, which is a killer, so he's out. That Chris Pine is darling, and I love the story about the shelter dog, but this is the year of ReSistaHood for me, so I cast my vote for Chrissy Hynde.

    ReplyDelete
  41. If you watch The Graham Norton Show on BBC America you’ve seen all of them! Tie between Hemsworth & Pratt for me.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hemsworth, then Evans, then Pine, then probably Tiegan, Noth, O'Dowd, and Pratt. Hynde is in a class of her own!

  43. Chris Pine - talent + handsome + worthy!
